testing fuel sender unit

Hey guys I received a new fuel sender unit from VPW and on the packing list it says it for 6 and 12 volt vehicles, ok? Well there are no instructions what so ever and nothing online the fuel sender has zero markings on it to signify which of the two posts is positive or negative and my goal is to test the unit before I install it. The sender is fully sealed so I can see nothing just 2 posts sticking out the top for electrical connectors. Do you guys have and insight which of these posts is pos. or negative? I dont want to hook it up wrong at 150.00 for the sender.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
