I am sorry I can't help you with your question, but your following quote is hilarious, "...this is California, and you never know who is gonna get bent out of shape with sand in the air..."

I hope you realize I am laughing with you and not at you. I live at the fringe of Illinois which has become the second most California-like state in the country. I thought that about 1/4 of California consisted completely of sand when you consider all the beaches and desert. At least it appeared that way when I was last there in 1977.

I feel for you. If we could pack up everything we have and move 10-miles, we would be in Iowa and it would actually feel like we were living in the U.S.A. again.

On a related note, David Butler once shared with me photos of a truck he had located in a building somewhere in the deserts of the southwest. It had been stored in a building that had large gaps between the boards that were used for siding. One side of the truck (next to the outer wall) was sandblasted almost completely clean from sand picked up and carried by the prevailing winds. The side towards the interior of the building had rather nice original paint still remaining on it.

How much time do you have to let nature take it course?

;^)
