The set screw nut is a cylinder 3/8 long that is spot welded to the round retainer or flange the lock slips into. When you break off the nut, the screw and nut come off together and allows the lock to slip out of the retainer and be removed. If you want to try drilling out the screw, be careful not to drill into the lock.
