I thought 2 pinion carriers were early half ton only diffs.
That’s what I had in my wc12 and what I replaced.
A 2 pinion carrier with triangle cutouts in tye case, the weakest of the diffs.
As far as me requiring to cut off 1/2” in to make these fit into the diff without binding AND sit flush against the outer rear axle housing outer hub, it was necessary
I tried 1/4”. Not enough. I tried a bit more. Not enough.
Until I reached one half inch removed would it fit nicely.
I even removed one axle shaft from my wc51 project and slid it into the housing to confirm indeed I needed to remove that full half inch off the axle. Fully seated, there was at least .50 left of a gap at the outer hub
What could I have done wrong? Nothing.
It’s kinda funny how few guys have commented on this. I rember way back oh, about 30 years ago, when I first did this swap. There were many who also did it then and the info seemed to be more
