Threads are important, but the shoulder is most important to align the housing properly to avoid binding the axles in the side gears and to prevent the housing from moving side to side against the studs. Other sources were out or longer studs, or the stud didn't have a shoulder.
The threads on the stud at the link may be a little long in the housing so check for length with original stud.
When you look for parts online, your ability to find parts is all in how you define your search string - "7/16 to 3/8 stepup studs"
