I have an MSD conversion in my '66 F350 with a 428 engine. I will have to say this: It works great until it stops working. This has only happened twice in about 20 years, but when it does, there's no going anywhere under my own power. Of course the original stuff can fail but it's a little easier to carry an extra set of points or a coil. The replacement parts on most electronics require analyzers to find the problem, or just start replacing, which gets expensive.
Personally, for a flathead 6 cylinder I think the original parts are best.
