Hi Todd, the biggest complaint with Power Wagons in general is that they don’t travel at highway speed well. You can put as powerful an engine in as you want & the speed will be the same. So yes…you could put in 4.30 gears but you’ll still only get 60mph with a diesel in there because they don’t rev as high as a gas motor.
So the trend is to get a transmission with an OD & it’s just easier to get an NV4500 or something that mates easy to the engine you’re installing.
Then you need to think about brakes & steering once you can go fast & so luckily there are some upgrades that can be used with the originals but you can see how there’s a snowball effect once you start changing stuff.
