If we're talking about the third picture, it's actually a boss with a grease fitting in it. The angle of the photo, combined with the shadow at about 11:30 next to it does make it look like a jagged hole. If you look in the fourth pic, you can see it better. If I were to buy it, I would have him remove the cable and hook. They are nothing more than scrap.
