I cannot help you on the bedside. But, have you considered a flatbed? Since I got my B3PW with a flatbed I find I use it to haul a lot more than my WDX with the pickup bed. It is just so much more functional.
I made side racks, headache rack, and tailgate that I can configure several different ways:
* Headache rack only. Low, tall extension, or with extra second extension to cab match height.
* Headache rack (any of the above combinations) with short side racks (with or without tailgate)
* Headache rack (tall or with extra second extension) with side racks - either short or with additional tall extensions (with or without tailgate)
* Tall headache rack with tall side racks and headache rack extension added to tailgate to make all racks even all the way around.
