The M37 transmission is basically a bolt in to replace the no synchronized trans. It has the same bolt pattern on the bell housing and same clutch assembly. The swap will need a new center transmission floor hump and the passenger side floor board. It will need the parking brake lever from the NP420 trans but the 4wheel shift levers don’t need to be changed. The jack shaft will work just fine. Not a straight bolt in but you can’t get any closer to one.
The downside is that only 3rd and 4th are synchronized. But those are the most common shifts you will make.
