A year or so ago, PBS, NOVA did a special on
Beaver. They showed tests in the back country
where they opened beaver dams. Small breaches to large breaches, even opening a
totally new channel for water flow. In all cases
the sound of running water triggered a
emergency response in the Beavers where the flow MUST be stopped quickly.
They also showed how strong and mean they can be when cornered or another animal invades their area. They are no longer friendly little Bucky Beaver we all think of. Beaver up here in the Mountain wet areas are a way of life.
