Closest I ever got to a beaver was seeing stumps when I was on a horseback trip in high school to the Uninta Mountains in Utah. I was a city boy in what is now Silicon valley. I took one small stump home. Where we live now is still in Silicon Valley but on the outskirts up against the hills. We have deer, skunks,raccoons, possums, foxes, wild turkeys, occasional coyotes and bobcats. We hear of Mt lions but I have never seen one wild. My wife thinks that every time she smells a skunk, it's someone smoking pot. It's too bad that these animals can be destructive. The worst are the feral cats that are dumped at the end of out street.
