Actually, there are three. An early and late PTO for the spur gear and the much later helical. Biggest difference on the early and late is the flange size. If I remember correctly the early will fit on the later spur with a spacer, but you can't make the later version fit on an early transmission. The flange is too thick. I am headed to work now but could dig up more details tonight if needed.
