Yes there are two PTOs for the PE. One for the spur gear transmission and the other for the NP420 transmission which has helical cut gears. The PTOs are not interchangeable due to differences in the drive gear. Both PTOs are front rear drive. The gear mesh depth is set by gaskets when the PTO is installed. There is an M37 PTO that will fit later NP420 equipped PWs and is front drive only.

Be sure to use the correct bolts when installing the PTO.
