Dickie,

Its already broken, so try to fix it youself. Many times the repair to a starter is simple, such as a stuck brush, or worn brushes.

Take the round back plate off, the opposite end of the starter nose. Use a screwdriver or such to move the brushes back and forth in the brush holders. Make sure the springs that hold the brushes against the armature are not broken, and free moving.

Check the length of the brushes. If they are real short, they wont touch up against the armature commutator, and can cause arcing.

Brushes can be bought easily on Amazon or EBAY.
