If you are going to plug it up full time with a battery maintainer as you mentioned in a later post, my thoughts would be....
Hook your battery, maintainer and a female cigarette power connection together on your battery, plug in the inverter, an short extension chord to door opener.
This will allow her to remove inverter and bring with her when she is on a road trip, and she can remove the entire set-up when she moves to another location.
