I have Hagerty Insurance and been with them since the early 90's. They used to require using one of their "approved" appraisers. They wanted to see your receipts, the car and really did inspect the one I have. It's an agreed value policy so that if it is stolen or totaled, you get that amount, no questions asked. When I finished my 41 I called and asked the agent for the number of their current approved appraiser and she said they don't do that anymore. Just state the value you want and if it's out of line they will ask for more info. When I told them what I wanted for coverage she winced and said they will want to see pictures and receipts. She said it usually takes them 2 weeks to approve/disapprove. I took the reciepts, pictures and gave her a link to the build albums. They approved it in less than 2 hrs. Every agent and company will probably vary in how they do it so I suggest to see what they want before hiring anyone.

It's a catch 22. You can rack up a lot in premiums but you don't want to have the $ for your work or truck if something bad were to happen.

I would always make sure you have a stated value policy so they can't depreciate down on you.
