I have had Tinnitus since the early 80’s. 24/7 it sounded like a loud field of crickets. I got so used to it that it did not really bother me sleeping etc. both Mayo and Cleveland Clinics evaluated my hearing and said nothing could be done, other than trying to mask it. So I live with it.
But this past week something changed during the night while sleeping. I woke up in the morning and heard a motor running, something was running in the house and I did not have the Cricket Sounds.
I looked everywhere to find what was running……nothing. Then I realized it was my ears. I now hear a very low frequency, very low volume hum, sounds just like a electric motor running. Its a welcome relief from the crickets.
And yes, I abused my ears with loud noises over my life. But no more, I wear hearing protection for everything making noises .
