I know a local guy who, as a young man, leaned up against an auger elevator conveying grain into a grain bin. It grabbed his coat sleeve. They cut the auger with a torch and rushed him and the section of auger to the hospital. They amputated his arm. He stayed awake through the whole trip to the hospital.
I also know another man, about my age, who as a young guy was working at a pizzeria. He was grinding sausage in a meat grinder when it grabbed his fingers. Not sure if he was wearing gloves or not but they had to amputate his arm a few inches above the wrist.
I did not use to be very scared of chainsaws, but as I grow older....
