The dangerous part is when airing them up. What danger is there when trying to break the bead? The air is out of of the tire. When I first changed the tires on my WC 1/2 ton, the tires had been on the split rims for at least 10 years if not more. Using lots of tire soap and a long handled bead bracing hammer, it took was no problem. Guess some wheels are harder to break the bead on than others.
