Jerry, I knew that you drove an 06 D2500 for a daily driver. I long drove a D3500 diesel for a daily driver, which I still have (I drive a 97 Jeep TJ daily now, as its a lot easier to get into my parking spot).

I considered replacing it a few months ago when rust started setting in over one wheel well, but after looking at the local dealership, and all, I decided not to. I'm just going to have the rust addressed and keep on keeping on with the truck, which now has about 170,000 miles on it.

I've thought about making a few alteration to it such as you've noted, including a lockout hub kit and maybe slightly lifting or leveling so I could easily go to one size bigger tires, but my biggest fear is an electronics failure as well.

In my more delusional moments I ponder replacing the rusting box with an old Dodge step side long bed box. . . which I don't know will actually work at all.
