In high school I had an old beat up '70 Camaro. Drove it all over Calif. for years. Always had a odd rattle when stopping. Finally, the time came when I had to basically "restore" the poor thing. Body rot was catching up and I had to replace the rear quarter panels. First thing was to drop the gas tank. In doing so I heard and felt the rattle. Looking in the tank I found a big old cold chisel had been rolling around in there for I don't know how long.
One benefit though, the bottom of the tank was sparkly clean!
