All the housings look the same, ie the 9-5/8" with the dimples around the edge of the welded cover. I don't know if that means it's still possible to find 8-3/4 rings inside.

The gears I bought from VPW are the first run (4 years ago??) 4.89's for the 9-5/8.

The centered diff currently in my truck has a single gasket, and there is a tag welded on the housing that says 'single gasket only'.

Tomorrow I'll be cracking things open to see what really lurks in there.
