I had a lightweight flatbed raised high on steel brackets. Good for a small load of hay & that's about it. About 8 or 10 years ago, I replaced it with a pretty heavy-duty dump bed that looks a lot like the one on the orange truck pictured... about 6" higher though. Steel channels run the length of the frame on both sides for good weigh distribution. No frame alteration, ran the hinges off the end. What I like the best about is I kept the original fenders on the back, with some small notches for the bed frame to drop into when the dump was lowered down. Steel on steel worked out well
