In my '49 Power Wagon, I use my floor jack. I believe my tranny is the same as yours. Slide the jack under the tranny, lift slightly, remove all the bolts holding it to the bellhousing, jiggle the tranny a little by grabbing the shifter handle and/or the output shaft yoke, and start sliding the tranny rearward. Of course, you have to be smart about this and stay out of the way, in case you drop the tranny, but I don't recall there being much tendency for the tranny to want to fall one way or the other. As best I recall, it's center if gravity is fairly well-centered over the pad of the jack. I usually do this from inside the cab, with all floor panels removed and standing on the ground. Sometimes, I may have to sit on the cab floor or seat. It takes some work, but I've done it several times and don't remember it being too huge a deal. Better yet would be to use a transmission jack, but I don't think I've ever done it that way on this truck.
