I thought M37 had Bendix-Weiss front axles? I pulled some of these joints from an M37 recently when getting to the 3rd member for my PW. In my opinion the axles of the m37 are equivalent in strength to the civilian PW. The only real difference in weight ratings is from the springs and possibly the frame. Both axles are of full floating design and share the same front spindles, bearings etc. I think the real weakness in these axles is the type of steel the axles were made from. Today's steel axles are going to be much stronger than an axle made 50 yrs ago. The manufacturing process has greatly improved. If we could only have some after market company make new axles (moser?).
