Hagerty didn't have any problem with the modifications on my 6x6, but they didn't like that I might be hauling firewood from the mountains once or twice a year. The company that insures my house and all my other vehicles, including my stock WM300, didn't like the new engine and cab that were sitting in/on the 6x6 chassis. They will insure a conversion van, but nothing more.
The thing that bugs me the most is I only want liability and uninsured motorist on the 6x6. I plan to use this truck and I'm not worried if it gets scratched and worn over time. But it's not a pavement queen, so the specialty insurance companies don't want to touch it.
