For my own education, can you tell me what your thoughts are on how far we need to go in telling the insurance company that our trucks have been modified, to make sure we are covered?

For example, do I need to tell them that I'm installing a 265 cid flathead Dodge engine into my '49 Power Wagon, in place of the original 230 flathead? The vast majority of people, insurance agents or otherwise would not be able to tell that it's not the original engine by looking at it. If I get into an accident, or if the truck burns to the ground in some freak event, are they going to go looking at the details of the engine and determine it's got a few more cubic inches, even though it's virtually the same engine design as the original?

Do I need to tell the I'm installing 2 1-bbl carbs and headers to get a little more juice out of the engine? Obviously, they could see that if they lifted the hood, and I don't know how much I should be concerned about that. Do I need to tell the I'm going to install disc brakes in the front, and eventually a dual-circuit brake system, which will make the truck safer?

I don't plan to install power steering, but what if I wanted to install air conditioning?

Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide.
