I put over 185,000 miles on a 1974 Dodge Ramcharger and never had a single problem with the full time four wheel drive or with the front axle. I used this rig quite a bit for hunting and also cruised the high deserts of Wyoming during the winter hunting coyotes. That rig always brought me home, sometimes from some pretty scary circumstances. The gas mileage with the full time four wheel drive was better than other rigs I have had since with part four wheel drive. I keep records of every fueling and compute mileage for every tank, so I know what the long term averages are.
