Dear Power Wagon Fans:
While looking for a winter " beater " , I came across a 1978 Dodge Power Wagon for a very reasonable price.
While I was looking the vehicle over, a neighbor of the owner came over and struck up a conversation telling me that he remembered the old Power Wagons from his days in the Army and said they were tremendous vehicles, but he didn't know how the newer ones stacked up.
That got me wondering about these " Power Wagons " so I went to my local book store and purchased a book about classic 4 x 4's. The book had an entire section about the Power Wagons and their greatness.
My interest is now totally peaked and I would like to know if anyone can tell me if the 1978 Power Wagon measures up in any way to the classic Power Wagons and if the '78 model is worth doing anything with.
Also, I came across a 1978 Dodge Ramcharger with a 400 c.i.d. engine , automatic trans. , and full time 4x4. Unfortuneately, the body is almost totally shot and will require some serious work , probably replacement.
I spoke to a friend who does a good deal of work on heavy duty 4x4's who said he didn't know a whole lot about Dodge's and suggested that I check this site. Any help that anyone may be able to provide will be greatly appreciated.
