And the point is that IF you are on #1 TDC, the rotor points at 7: O'clock. And #1 plug wire should be right there too. Now you can turn on the ignition and twist the dist back and forth until the spark jumps. Snug it down, it ought to start. Time it with a light, I like 10 BTDC.

To find #1 TDC, remove #1 plug, hold left finger firmly over the hole, use right hand to engage starter lever, bump it a bit at a time until #1 blows your finger off the hole. #1 is on the way up. Crank by hand w/ fan blade until the pointer at pulley says you are at TDC.
