I think the pipe does not last very long when wrapped. The pipe gets too darn hot and burns itself out. The coolest pipes are the ones that are ceramic coated silver. I made up heat shields under the cab and I wrapped a heat shield in the glass and placed that between the transfer case and the exhaust. I guess we are going to find out which system works best.
I doubt a flat head exhaust gets as hot as many of the newer lean burn systems. Ditto with the Cummins 4bt does the exhaust run hotter or cooler than a flat head. I suspect hotter , but have not put it to the test.
