Yes I learned about that when I did mine. Most automotive stuff uses 409 stainless, it's still magnetic, so much lower nickel content then 316 or similar, and hence cheaper, but also still far more resistant to corrosion than regular aluminized steel.

It's what I used in mine, kind of unknowingly, but since there's little snow and salt around here it will probably still last a good long time.

Of course right now I'm probably getting the worst mileage, I'm not really going anywhere! It's mostly idle time and puttering around.
