All I can suggest is put things back the way they used to be, as best you can, and then change one thing at a time and test it each time. At least that's what I do when I have a "worked okay until I fixed it" sort of problem.

My only wild guess is that stalling at idle is often a vacuum leak. But I don't think a stock M37 has a vacuum advance. There's a maze of vent tubing all over the place, but it all goes to the air intake upstream of the choke so even if you left some of it disconnected it wouldn't cause it to stall out.
