I got it from Maine, so a road-salt area very likely. At the center it was probably about 1/2 way down, but at the bent corners it was clear through. The pine needles were also making a pretty good acid-soup over the years I suppose. All the rust was from the inside, where the debris probably never really got dry.
I'm not sure if there were drain holes in the corners or not? I'm going to put some in before I paint it up.
