OT piston rings

I have been staying warm in my basment rebulding the motor for my ww2 dozer. parts for this thing are rare I have bored and honed the flat head 4 block to fit a set of oddball used pistons is it ok to use a set of rings that are .040 biger than the bore I will have to remove aprox 1/8 from the end of the rings to get the gap to .015
