The Boyertown body was placed on new surplus WWII 3/4 ton ambulance & command car chassis in 1951 and 1952 for export to Belgium & France. They were designated a 'Casualty Wagon' with room for 6 stretchers. (Unlike the WWII 4 stretcher ambulances) I have one of four of these trucks known to me to exist in the US.
The body is very wide and very high, it used some of the WWII ambulance hardware (including the fold down bench seats and the rear step, located INSIDE the rear doors!) and some unique to it's own. There are NO running boards on the Boyertown, as the body is as wide as the outside of the fenders, and the driver & passenger doors are 'pocket' sliders within the sidewalls of the van body. Another interesting note is the locat1on of the spare tire & wheel is inside the truck just behind the driver! You can see my truck by clicking on the link.
