my favorite I have seen is where a plate is bolted right to the center of the crossmember with the tube below the corss member. that way the pintle can stay as well and looks clean. only as wide as the low flat part of the crossmember. no need to go allthe way from frame rail to frame rail. the stock crossmember is quite heavy duty.
