Dual master cylinders have two pistons separated by a spring. Although there may be exceptions in certain brake arrangements, on most light duty brakes as a rule the front is connected to the firewall end and rear to the closed end. Reservoir size does not necessarily indicate which goes where. Generally the front will have larger requirements than the rear but not always.
