I think I still have a couple months to go on a 2-year subscription, but I won't re-up. A few years ago it got bought by a publisher that publishes all sorts of "hobby" magazines. The "production values" went up -- more gloss and more color -- but the information content went down. There's always a big ad from Gov Liquidation, and all the usual MV suppliers are still stuck with advertising there, but the articles are trending towards very basic mechanics, "how to get started in the hobby", and such. My impression is that their target reader is a guy who has suddenly decided he should have a "hobby", and is trying to decide between jeep restoration, fly-tying, stamp collecting, and knitting.
Is there a better MV magazine out there that anyone would recommend?
