Without seeing your pictures, the joint with the steel balls is a Bendix Weiss. I, and others prefer the Bendix Weiss as superior to the tracta joint. The Bendix Weiss will allow tighter turning the wheels without joint causing a locking hop. I also feel the Bendix is stronger. All my trucks that had tracta joints have been replaced with Bendix Weiss.

I have had absolutely no issues with them off road being driven by diesel power/torque.
