Bug nests int he swtch prevent connection. All you need to do is remove the two screws and the cable to see how simple all switches are inside.
Witht he stich removed you might try your dandy new switch, battery to contact that remains on starter. Just a second. It ought to spin before the little wire melt.
Spin, clean ane reassemble.
No spin, remove the band on the left end. If there a gods of solder splattered around, it's fried. Need a used one. post here.
Step learning curve, eh?
