I got a replacement cardboard box from Roberts. And like everything else Ive mentioned before, the holes weren't even close to lining up with the screw holes. I finally did get it to work, and its pretty solid. This one doesn't have a slit as you say, just fits right in
My heater has one side outlet for the defrost hose, and it shouldn't affect the box at all.
