I have recienlty purchased a 2005 Power Wagon. There was a couple of small repairs that I needed to do when I purchased the truck but over all it is in excellent condition. When I took it for a test drive I noticed a small clunk some times when I accellerated. I asked the seller about it and he said that it had always been there and he was told that it was nothing to worry about. When I got the truck home I took it to my mechanic for the small repairs and had him do a thorrow once over. I told him about the clunk as well and asked him to investigate. He could could find any probloms with the truck and gave it a clean bill of health. He said that there is a commen occurence in 3/4 tons where the drive shaft slips back and makes a clunk when you first accellerate. Ron said that he could grease the splines and it would likely disapear. It did not. I can not believe that this could be a normal occurance with such a well put together machine and I am worried that I am causing damage by not adressing it. I decided who better to ask than the owners of other power wagons so here I am. once again here is the problem. Not every time but more often then not when I am driving in two wheel drive (Havent Tried in 4X4) there is a clunk when I first accelerate from a stop. It is usually in the first couple of seconds and that is it. I have also noticed that the 4X4 stick shift pulles back slightly and then jolts when the clunk happens. Does any one know what this may be and what needs to be done to fix it. Spring is coming soon and I want to hit the bush with confedence.
