I have State Farm insurance. I have mine insured as a clasic vehicle for a stated value. Some times you need to get an appraisal other times not. I did not as my agent had no problem with the stated value as he knew Power Wagons.

We have a 58 Willys which I bought from my brother. We had it insured as a daily driver for my son. He was blowen off the road in ice and snow and rolled the Willys. It was totaled by the insurance company. We had it insured for a stated value. Ha! they offered us half wat it was worth. When I stated that I wanted the stated value they said that was only true for cars insured under their clasic vehicles policies. Bottom line I had a valuation the my brother had done on the truck 7 years before. I called the guy and he stated that he would do it again if necessary. I sent the old valuation to State Farm. Two days later they gave us stated value less $50. Not worth the fight and we had our money out of it. The valuation cost a couple of hundred but it saved $4,000. You tell me was it worth it.
