There was some talk about legalizing the groth of hemp a few years back, not sure where it went. I know Canada has a legal groth policy, very tightly regulated and supervised.
You really need to go back to the 1930s and read the history of theCongressional hearings and Harry Anslinger with regard to hemp. Harry was a beauty who made Hoover look like the favorite uncle in your family.
Anslinger ran Bureau of Narcotics, and was known to keep more than 1 politician supplied with his favorite drug. Once the law was passed a whole new government industry came into being and grew insanely.
