Everything I ever read said torque cold, warm it up, then cool again before re-torquing - cold again. But YMMV, try the gasket makers directions?

But few specify the re-torque any more. But if you want to, the proper technique to re-torque is to first back the bolt off a bit, then re-torque in the correct direction. Do one bolt at a time. The bolt should move as you apply the torque, it's one of those dynamic sorts of things.
