Mine was perforated the entire length. Since the cab roof was a mess, I wanted to replace the entire skin. I thought about opening that seam and decided against it. I cut infront of it in between the windshield opening and the seam. I replace the skin with a piece that had a seam that was just as bad, and I didn't open that either. I butted the cut seams (overlapped, then cut through both). The moulding itself I filled with waterproof US Chemical All Metal. Then skimmed some filler over that. Where the edge of the seam was gone, that got filled to. I wrapped sand paper around strips of sheetmetal and cut a groove in the filler. After a zillion coats of primer, more sanding, it looks pretty good. Only the moulding was rotted, the roof skin itself was solid, so I don't think I have structural problems. I had my hands full with replacing the roof skin. I didn't want to open that seam because I didn't think I'd ever get it back looking halfway normal, and it was only the moulding that needed work. Separating the pieces would involve cutting many spot welds from underneath, which is fine but at the time it seemed simpler to leave it alone.
