I like that. Maybe it's time for them to set Jeep free. Spin it off into a "Jeep" company that makes only Jeeps. Forget about the intellectual property rights to the number of grill slats. People are already tricking out oversized ATVs into machines that sure want to be jeeps. They have four wheel drive, canvas tops, side by side seats, and a small cargo compartment in the rear. They look like golf cart / ATV hybrids. What they really are is jeeps being invented by people who never knew a real jeep.
Turn the Jeep company loose to make Jeeps and let the rest of AMC/Renault/Damlier's mistakes die an honest death.
What will probably really happen is Pres Obama will get another $700 billion bailout with the help of Nancy Pelosi, this one to be used to bail out unionized companies in states that elected him into the White House. There's already serious talk of an open-ended auto-company bailout along the lines of the Wall Street banker bailout, this one disguised as some kind of alternative-energy "tax break". Chrysler may yet get to be the first US company to be bailed out twice.
