Since you have to log into the M715Zone to see the forums, I thought that I would repost the info from the "other things in the area" post for folks to see...

Family Stuff and Side Trips:

There are lots of family things to do in the area if you bring the wife and kids, too. Here are a few of them:

Pottery is big in the nearby area, wimmenfolk can spend a day easily...

Museum of NC Traditional Pottery
Seagrove Area Potters Association
The North Carolina Pottery Center
Randolph County Tourism Development Authority

The NC Zoo was one of the first natural-habitat zoos. They have done some extensive renovations and new exhibits. NC Zoological Park

If your kids (or grown ups) are into trains, The NC Transportation Museum at Spencer is way cool.

For pilots and plane-lovers, the NC Aviation Museum is nearby, in Asheboro.

The John Deere Tractor Museum (never been there, but it's linked from the Randolph County tourism site). It's in Trinity.

The Pisgah Covered Bridge is one of only two remaining covered bridges in North Carolina. Wikipedia Entry The bridge washed out in 2003, was rebuilt in 2004 with 90% of the original materials.

A bit further away (85 miles), but most guys here would find interesting is the Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville. ASOMF

And, for Randy, the American Classic Motorcycle Company & Museum of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.

The Nirvana of pigmeat, Lexington Barbeque #1, is just 35 miles away.

Delks Surplus is nearby (about 8 miles West of Asheboro). If you've been there before, though, you'll be amazed at the amount of green iron they've scrapped out the past year or so. They save the prime stuff (what there is of it), plus the big inside store of everything surplus. They are open until either 12 or 1pm on Saturdays.

And of course, AB Linn is over in Salisbury. This is your chance to have your pic made with 'the chair'.

If anybody wants to do a convoy on Fri or Sat, and hit maybe the aviation or motorcycle museum, or Delks and a maybe a BBQ joint, post up in this thread. Same thing if you have any family members wanting to check out the Zoo, the train yard, etc, maybe we can get some carpooling set up.
